We went out one clear night to look at the moon and the stars.

Star Size Matching Game

Unlike most of my other matching games, in this one we are focusing on size. I cut stars identical in every way except their 3 different sizes and pasted them to the inside of a folder. Each had its "match" in a baggie stapled to the folder.

We always love all of Eric Carle's books and his lovely illustrations, but we especially enjoyed the many fun fold out pages in this classic. A little girl wants the moon, and her father sets out to get it for her with a "very long" ladder.




How to Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers

The playful watercolors in this book are full of bright colors and geometric shapes as a young star-lover tries different plans to catch on of his own. As the sun sets and the boy heads sadly home he looks down and finds...a starfish!
